Mrs. Aceto, everyweek I try very hard on the 440 and I still get a bad grade.
Do you have any tips on how to run the 440 faster and get the grade I'm trying for?

There are a few general things that I can tell you. But first, I would love, love, love, to help you and you need to know that every person is different so the things I will list are things that are very general. If you want to work with me on this please come see me personally and we can find what will work for you.
The 440 is a long sprint. You need to work on your cardiovascular fitness and that means running more than one time a week. Practice, practice, practice. Find a pace that you can sustain the entire way around the track. Bring a watch with you that has a timer. Start it when you leave the starting line and see where you are at a 1/4 way around, at a 1/2 way around, etc... is it equal in time or is it faster and then slower? If it is faster the first 1/4 of the lap then you need to slow down a little bit. It is consistency we are looking for. If you take off too fast you tire yourself out and you die about half way.

Hope this helps! But please... come see me. There are a lot of other ways to work on running the 440 better. The first thing is to ask for help... so you are already on your way to doing it better! :)

mrs. aceto, when you say you run for extra credit, do you mean during pe or after school?

Extra credit is after school on Wednesday, Oct. 26th. UNLESS you have missed one or more run days. If you have missed more than one run day you HAVE to make it up on this day.

I got the same question as Jasper, where do we see how many miles we run if we are not on the 10 mile run list?

Eden,
You will get points per lap so long as you run at least 6.
If you are not on the 75 mile club link you can come and see me and I can give you your total miles. For privacy reasons, I do not list all students.
